Internet Archaeology Department
An editorial hub for web archiving tools, internet history, and experimental work that drew inspiration from the personal web.
The purpose
Provide readers with well-researched and cited examples of actual archiving initiatives, with an identity tied to the early days of the internet.
My contribution
I established the editorial direction, dinosaur branding system, merchandise strategy, and overall user experience for the site. I utilized AI-assisted design and development throughout this process.
Technical and creative work
- Using a static publishing model using reusable page templates and a searchable tool database.
- Utilizing original vector graphics for articles, citing external images and linking to project sources.
- Integrating Fourthwall product cards, responsive layout, canonical meta-data and site-map generation.
The result
The project provides both practical guidance for preserving digital heritage and a memorable retro identity supported by merchandise sold in conjunction with the editorial experience.
